Attending the course will give the students theoretical and methodological instruments to: 

• reflect on the concept of linguistic typologies, language contact and interlinguistics; 
• analyze contemporary Italian’s repertoire and its grammatical structure; 
• know principal textual typologies in order to better organize didactical action; 
• develop metalinguistical competence in order to teach Italian as a foreign language; 
• know the European Framework; 
• know how to analyze a movie’s linguistic features; 
• project didactic actions based on Audiovisuals. 

During the course, made of 18 lessons (36 h.), there will be a mid term test and a laboratory activity. 

The students who will choose to do a practical activity will structure a lesson and will present their work to the class. The final version of this work has to be submitted to the teacher one week at least before final exam.

Knowledge of main elements of General linguistics.

Knowledge of the structures of the Italian language. 

• Variational dimensions of contemporary Italian: norm and uses of contemporary Italian. 
• Main glottodidactic theories.
• Italian second language/foreign language: learning contexts and learner profiles.
• The different skills for the acquisition of Italian L2.
• The construction of a Teaching Unit. 
• Instructional design and planning. 
• Teaching techniques for classroom management and mixed classes.
• Tteaching of Italian L2 through songs.
• CEFR and syllabi of Italian L2;
• The assessment and certification of language skills. 

Please note that under Article 171 of Law No. 633 of April 22, 1941, and subsequent provisions, photocopying books in commerce, in excess of 15 percent of the volume or journal issue, is a criminal offense.

In-progress assessment and Oral test

The examination will include an in-progress assessment, which is not compulsory and open to all students, and will result in those who pass being able to divide the program. The test will be structured with open and closed questions. 

There is the possibility of designing a teaching unit, to be presented at the final exam. 

The final exam will be oral. 

The assessment of the exam will take into account the mastery of the content and skills acquired, linguistic accuracy and lexical property, and the argumentative ability demonstrated by the candidate.
