Learning Objectives

• Orthopaedics and Traumatology
  

  The aim is to provide the knowledge of the main musculoskeletal diseases of orthopedic and traumatology. The course provides knowledge regarding common orthopedic and traumatological diseases in physical and sports activities, related to their impact on the planning, organization, and management of motor activities, in relation to the various ages : from thepediatric age to the elderly.

• PHYSICAL MEDICINE AND REHABILITATION
  

  Provide the necessary information , both in terms of notions that the methodology of intervention , for the patient's rehabilitation with orthopedic disorders .

• SCIENZE TECNICHE MEDICHE APPLICATE
  

  Provide necessary information, both concepts and methodologies for action, to rehabilitate the patients from the physician’s point of view.

• The Therapeutic Exercize
  

  To make the student understand the purpose of the Therapeutic Exercise as a treatment of dysfunctions in various pathologies of orthopedic and rheumatological interest.

Detailed Course Content

• Orthopaedics and Traumatology
  

  The course is based on the main orthopaedic and traumatologic disorders, highlighting: epidemiology, etiology, pathogenesis, clinical features, imaging investigations, differential diagnosis, prognosis, complications, conservative and surgical treatment.

• PHYSICAL MEDICINE AND REHABILITATION
  

  Physical examination of the patient (evaluation of range of motion and muscle strength, reflex activity and various measurements)

  International Classification Functioning

  Observational and instrumental gait analysis
  EBM Physical therapy: electrical stimulation (variable currents, TENS, etc ..)
  General principles of orthopedic rehabilitation
  Sport Rehabilitation
  Rehabilitation of back pain

  • Principles of the assessment in neurological rehabilitation: Injuries, damages, disabilities
  • Peripheral nerve diseases: polyneuropathies
  • Anatomical and clinical aspects of the stroke

  • Somatosensory evoked potentials (SSEP) in rehabilitation
  • Transcranial magnetic stimulation: basic principles and application in rehabilitation
