M-STO/01 - 9 CFU - 2° Semester

Teaching Staff

MARCO LINO LEONARDI

Learning Objectives

The teaching is divided into two parts that are closely related. The general course aims to the knowledge of the peculiar characteristics of the cultural, economics, philosophical, religious and social foundations from the Edict of Tolerance (313A. D.) to the action of Martin Luther (1483-1546). The monographic course leads students to acquire awareness of an aspect of medieval everyday life which is less investigated: the usage of water. It focuses attention on comparison of the different utilization of that element in the cities of Freiburg im Breisgau (Germany) and Catania (Italy) during the centuries XIII-XVI.

Detailed Course Content

Description of historic events that have characterized the Middle Ages with particular reference to the utilization of water in the cities of Freiburg im Breisgau (South-West Germany) and Catania (Sicily) in the centuries XIII-XVI.
