LIBRARIANSHIP

The course aims to provide students with issues and methods to place the library in the current social context and to provide methods and tools for the management of library services.

Contents of Library and information science. Principles of Librarianship. Planning and Management of Libraries, Library services and Documentary circulation. The Library and Librarian in the contemporary Society.

Students will study the following manual:

• Biblioteche e Biblioteconomia: princìpi e questioni, a cura di Giovanni Solimine e Paul G. Weston, Roma, Carocci, 2015, p. 400 (i capitoli da studiare saranno indicati durante le lezioni).

In additions, students should study a book of their choise from the following

• Antonella Agnoli, Le piazze del sapere. Biblioteche e libertà, Roma-Bari, Laterza, 2013⁵, p. 180.
• Carlo Bianchini, I fondamenti della biblioteconomia: attualità del pensiero di S. R. Ranganathan, Milano, Ed. Bibliografica, 2015 (capitoli da concordare).

• Andrea Marchitelli, Orientarsi tra le informaizoni in biblioteca: cataloghi, banche dati, motori di ricerca, Milano, Ed. Bibliografica, 2015, p. 128.
• Caterina Ramonda, La biblioteca per ragazzi, Milano, Editrice Bibliografica, 2013, p. 192.
