Learning Objectives

To acknowledge the main philosophical issues related to the aesthetic experience; to develop a critical approach to the philosophical discussion on art, beauty and perception from antiquity to modern days.



Detailed Course Content

The principles of the Western aesthetics. In particular, the course will focus on the meaning of mimesis, on the issue of the Beautiful in Plotinus and on the appreciation of the role of the artist in Renaissance and classicist aesthetic theories.
