Learning Objectives

The course aims to provide the necessary methodological tools to the knowledge of the history of the Christian Churches, especially of the Roman Catholic Church in contemporary ages, through a guided reading of sources and updated information on the historiography related to this field of study.



Detailed Course Content

The course consists of three sections: the first presents a historical overview of the joints that have marked the passage from the centrality of European Churches to the affirmation of Global Christianity. The second section discusses the controversial relationship between the Catholic Church and human rights, especially the historical reasons of the contradictions that have marked the path from the Declaration of Human Rights (1789) until today. The third section consists in reading of official documents
