Learning Objectives

The course aims: 1) to promote and/or to improve the study of Spanish literature, also providing the basic tools for in-depth analysis of literary texts; 2) to provide a broad, general survey of the development of the Siglos de Oros Spanish literature, with special emphasis on the main features of literary periods and movements and selected (major) authors; 3) to have undergraduates acquire critical habits in reading literature and to develop an understanding of the importance of social and cultural issues in literary texts.



Detailed Course Content

The course is divided in two sections: A) general section, which concerns the study of the main features of literary periods and movements and selected (major) authors. B) In-depth analysis of Don Quijote.

During the lessons will be read significant pieces of the work, but for the purposes of the final exam students must demonstrate the knowledge of the whole novel and critical readings that will be proposed during the lessons.
