HISTORY AND HISTORIOGRAPHY OF MUSIC

The course offers to give an appropriate knowledge on History of Modern and Contemporary Music and to set the events of Classical Music in the European History of Arts and Culture.

Frontal lessons.

The first part of the course will be devoted to the theory and techniques of film music with particular attention to the role of Western art music.

The second part of the course will be devoted to interaction between images and sound in filmic writing by Luchino Visconti, Stanley Kubrick, Miloš Forman, Paolo and Vittorio Taviani.
