Correct diagnosis and surgical therapy of mucous and bone pathologies of the oro-maxillofacial area. The course aims to provide the student with a standardized and methodical approach to patients with oral surgery problems with also systemic diseases that can affect the pathology itself. In particular, the student must be able to: comply with the techniques of physiopathology, histopathology, of the clinic and of the therapy of odontostomatological alterations of surgical interest and in the surgical-rehabilitative treatment of total and partial edentulousness; specific areas of expertise are the histopathology of inflammatory, dysplastic and neoplastic changes in the dento-maxillofacial region, the pathophysiology of bone atrophy of the jaws, physical and instrumental semiotics, clinical methodology and surgical therapy.
The course is complemented by the free participation of students in local, national and international scientific events organized in the context of dental clinic and surgery.
The skills acquired will lead the student to develop a critical capacity on the diagnosis and surgical therapy of the patient in odontostomatology.
Knowledge and acquisition of specialist physiology and ENT pathology of dental interest
Lectures with illustration of clinical cases supported by visual and audiovisual means, video clips of surgical techniques. Discussion of clinical cases. Final exam with oral exam.
Theoretical and practical lessons with presentations in ppt and clinical cases
Surgical management of the patient according to guidelines, operating protocols relating to oral surgery in odontostomatology.

Soft tissue cysts (thyroglossal duct, dermoid, brachial, etc.)
Benign oro-maxillofacial tumors: diagnostic aspects and hints of therapy
· Classification of benign tumors
Benign odontogenic and non-odontogenic bone tumors (clinical, radiographic and microscopic pictures)
Benign soft tissue tumors (clinical and instrumental pictures)
Inflammatory pathologies of the oro-maxillofacial hard and soft tissues: microbiology, clinic and treatment principles
· Odontogenic abscesses and phlegmons
· Osteitis and osteomyelitis
Sinusitis
