MANAGEMENT FAUNISTICO DEGLI HABITAT MEDITERRANEI
The fauna management module of the Mediterranean Habitats proposes the knowledge of animal Biodiversity in complex ecosystems (natural, semi-natural and man-made) that interact functionally with their matrices. Nodal point is the ability to observe in all systems and implement the monitoring and study techniques of the different taxa of Invertebrates and Vertebrates in Mediterranean habitats. The knowledge is aimed at the recovery of environmental qualities and the application feedback in the processes of planning and management of transformations. The objectives will not disregard the implementation of interdisciplinary studies and research in the geological, botanical, IT sectors and in the fields of study of quality and environmental sustainability.
ANALISI E MONITORAGGIO DELLA FLORA MEDITERRANEA
The objective of the module is to acquire diagnostic methods and techniques for the recognition of spontaneous vascular species. Learning techniques for preparing herbarium specimens (exsiccata); knowledge and evaluation of diagnostic (morphological) characters of vascular cryptogams, Gimnospermae, Angiospermae. Acquisition of methods for monitoring vascular flora (policy species) and processing of floristic maps in GIS.

MANAGEMENT FAUNISTICO DEGLI HABITAT MEDITERRANEI
Equipment and techniques suitable for the collection and / or monitoring and study of wildlife in different ecosystems component. Sampling of freshwater macroinvertebrates aimed also to the knowledge of the quality indicator species of aquatic environments. Study of the traces and remnants of the trophic activity of vertebrates. Techniques for rearing of animals harvested. Home range and rhythms of activity by radio telemetry. Biology and nutrition. Distribution, inventory and density estimates. Technical ringing of migratory birds and sedentary. Studies on the morphology and morphometry. Management of animal populations in natural environments, agricultural and urbanized.

The vascular flora of the Mediterranean basin, Life form (Raunkiær system ), Corology, Phytogeography. Taxonomy: nomenclature and classification. The cladistic. Evolution of vascular plants. Organization of vascular plants. The phyla of vascular cryptogamic plants. Gymnosperms. The diversity in the phylum Anthophyta. Origin and diversification of angiosperms. The phylogenetic relationships of angiosperms.

Diagnosis, ecological analysis, conservation status and monitoring of threatened plant species (Policy Species, Endemics) in Sicily. Description and analysis of the morphological features of the most important families. Crittogame vascolari (Blechnaceae, Dryopteridaceae, Athyriaceae, Cystopteridaceae, Aspleniaceae, Marsileaceae, Salviniaceae, Dennstaedtiineae, Pteridaceae, Polypodiaceae, Osmundaceae, Ophioglossaceae, Equisetaceae, Isoetaceae, Selaginellaceae). Gimnospermae (Pinaceae, Cupressaceae, Taxaceae, Ephedraceae). Angiospermae, Classe Liliopsida (Monocotiledoni): Liliaceae, Iridaceae, Cyperaceae, Juncaeae, Potamogetonaceae, Poaceae, Palmae, Orchideaceae. Classe Magnoliopsida (EuDicotiledoni): Anacardiaceae, Apiaceae, Asteraceae, Boraginaceae, Brassicaceae, Chenopodiaceae, Ericaceae, Euphorbiaceae, Fabaceae, Fagaceae, Lamiaceae, Oleaceae, Papaveraceae, Plumbaginaceae, Raunculaceae, Rhamnaceae, Rosaceae, Salicaceae, Solanaceae, Scrophulariaceae, Tamaricaceae. Preparation and preservation methods of exsiccata.
