Learning Objectives

Provide the context of the sociology of communication starting from the main authors as well as from the mass media that have characterized the concept of modernity up to the contemporaneity of the digital.

The course can be considered preparatory because it provides the theoretical basis for understanding the methodologies of sociological research in the field of communication.



Detailed Course Content

The birth and development of mass media and the definition of mass culture, the media functions within contemporary society through the study of methods of study of the use of audience consumption, description of the main authors who have deal with social changes starting with the introduction of mass media.
