This volume, created to disseminate an intervention research on the construction and evaluation of the effectiveness of a treatment for schizophrenia, has proved to be a manual that can meet the information and training needs of professionals engaged in Mental Health and students of the Degree Programmes in Psychiatric Rehabilitation and Psychological Sciences. The multifactorial nature of schizophrenia makes care complex in services that must offer users evidence-based treatments based on best practices. Adhering to these guidelines, the training presented here, is the result of a vision and integrated studies that abandon partial visions directing towards integrative approaches to lead the patient to a progressive recovery of their identity and readjustment within the community. Issues related to recovery are also addressed, here understood as a subjective condition of recovery linked to the strengthening of basic cognitive activities and metacognition, essential skills for psychosocial functioning and for the consolidation of the sense of self, as well as for the reconstruction of the dimension of the identity of the patient, often humiliated and stiffened by pathology and social stigma. Through this work we hope to promote a more confident vision of the outcome of schizophrenic pathology, restoring hope to patients, relatives and mental health workers.
