Il corso mira a fornire agli studenti alcune nozioni fondamentali sulla generazione delle informazioni, l'encoding, la compressione e la comunicazione per scenari di big data.
Il corso si compone di lezioni e attività di laboratorio. Le lezioni teoriche sono tenute dai docenti, mentre le attività di laboratorio, costituite da esercizi, verranno svolte in collaborazione tra i docenti e gli studenti, che sono invitati a risolvere, con il supporto del docente, problemi esemplificativi. Inoltre, altre lezioni saranno dedicate all'illustrazione di strumenti software utili per la soluzione di problemi specifici.
