1. In the first part of the course attention will be given to methodological questions, related to historical research and the ways through which history is told. Different types of sources (archival, literary, private/personal, figurative and audio-visual) will be illustrated and analysed.
2. The analysis of the major Italian and European historiographical questions and their interconnectedness with the construction of the Italian state, from its birth to its complete modernization, will be the subject of the second part of the course. The discussion on these topics will represent, moreover, a moment of critical reflection and methodological learning.
