INGEGNERIA CIVILE E ARCHITETTURA (DICAR)Structural and Geotechnical Civil EngineeringAcademic Year 2022/2023

1015707 - TECNICA DELLE COSTRUZIONI
Module 1015708 - MOD. A

Teacher: MELINA BOSCO

Expected Learning Outcomes

This course aims at giving the theoretical knowledge and the practical capability for the structural design, in its stages of modeling, structural analysis and structural check. This last one is in particular referred to check and design of steel structural elements. Each student will apply this knowledge to the basic structural elements of a steel structure.

Course Structure

Lessons will be given both to explain theoretical arguments listed in the program and to explain how to apply this knowhow to the design of elements of a steel structure.

Should teaching be carried out in mixed mode or remotely, it may be necessary to introduce changes with respect to previous statements, in line with the program planned and outlined in the syllabus.

Required Prerequisites

The knowledge of the main concepts provided by the course of “Scienza delle Costruzioni” is necessary.

Attendance of Lessons

Attendance of lessons is mandatory

Detailed Course Content

Serviceability and ultimate limit states.

The properties of material steel and the numerical models to replicate its behaviour. Ultimate limit state check of steel cross-sections and members subjected to axial force, bending moment, shear and torque. Connections for steel members. Serviceability limit state check.

Learning Assessment

Learning Assessment Procedures

Intermediate tests, final written test consisting in the design of a rc and a steel structure. Discussion of the projects developed during the course. Oral exam to verify the knowledge of theoretical concepts. Note: The exam can also be carried online, should the conditions require it.
