Expected Learning Outcomes

 Skills development of linguistic and communicative competences foreseen by the B1 level of common European framework are also included. These skills are sufficient for an initial communications level in Spanish-speaking countries.

Students, at the end of the course, will demonstrate:

1) knowledge and understanding in a post-secondary level field of study and knowing the fundamental themes in one's field of study;

2) ability to apply knowledge and understanding in order to demonstrate a professional approach and possess adequate skills both to conceive and support arguments and to solve problems in one's field of study

4) ability to communicate one's knowledge clearly and unambiguously to specialist and non-specialist interlocutors.

5) learning skills necessary to undertake subsequent studies with a high degree of autonomy.

Course Structure

The course is divided into lectures, classroom exercise, verification of learning e written tests for the verification of learning.

Required Prerequisites

Good practical and theoretical knowledge of the italian lenguage, with particular reference to the logical and grammatical analysis of its structures.

Attendance of Lessons

Attendance is not mandatory but it is recommended.

Detailed Course Content

Basic-level concepts about phonetics and phonology, morphology and syntax (fundamental grammatical basic structures) of the Spanish language. Building of a basic vocabulary, civilization elements; translation, reading and writing exercises, and conversation.

Learning Assessment

Learning Assessment Procedures

The course includes a written test  bofore the oral test. The written test is divided intro three aparts: readin comprehension with multiple choice questions, multiple choice grammar and vocabulary tests and written expression (composition). The result of the written test allows the access to the oral exam but it is not averaged. The oral exam is divided into two parts: reading and summary of a passage from the novel Elena sabe, with translation of some phrases of the passage; and questions about the program.

The assessment of the exam will take into account the mastery of the contents and skills acquired, linguistic accuracy and lexical properties, as well as the argumentative ability demonstrated by the candidate.

Examples of frequently asked questions and / or exercises

The exam is help in Spanish. During the oral exam, students must read a passage from the Elena Sabe reading book, summarize the passage read, and answer grammar and vocabulary questions. The phrases of the piece will have to be translated into Italian. In addition, questions will be asked on the topics of Spanish culture studied, for example on cities, geography, folklore, history and traditions, art, museums, politics, economics, tourism, etc.
