Expected Learning Outcomes
The module aims to examine in depth the main topics
of bioethics on a background of philosophical reflection, allowing students
to understand complex theoretical and practical frameworks created by
technological development.
According to the Dublin
descriptors, students, at the end of the course, will demonstrate:
1) knowledge and understanding skills
such as to reinforce those achieved in the first cycle; ability to elaborate
and / or apply original ideas, in a research context.
2) ability to apply knowledge and
understanding and ability to solve problems to new or unfamiliar issues, inserted
in broader (or interdisciplinary) contexts connected to one's field of study;
3) ability to integrate knowledge and
to formulate judgments on the basis of information that is not necessarily
complete;
4) ability to communicate one's
knowledge clearly and unambiguously to specialist and non-specialist
interlocutors.
5) ability to carry out research
autonomously.

Knowledge of the history of ethical-philosophical
thought and general aspects of applied ethics.

Detailed Course Content
The module comprises an institutional part and a monographic part. The
institutional part focuses on the definition of the epistemological statute of
bioethics and on the analysis of some of the main topics, such as: the concept
of person, assisted suicide and euthanasia. The monographic part focuses on a
reflection of bioethics as a critical conscience of technological society and
as a definition of the relationship between science and human responsibility
