Learning Objectives

Pediatrics
How to deal with a pediatric patient; how to deal with the whole patient's family.

How to perform a correct pysical examination on the child

To learn the practical management of the most frequent pediatric diseases
Otorhinolaryngology
Practice knowledge of the notions of specialist anatomy-physiology and of the main pathologies of the ear, nose and paranasal sinuses, pharynx, larynx and salivary glands.
Internship Eye Diseases
provide practical knowledge on the eye examination, the main techniques of ocular semeiology (ultrasound, fluorangiography, OCT, corneal topography), and ocular surgery
Tirocinio Professionalizzante Chirurgia Generale
Clinical approach of the student to the main surgical pathologies of the digestive system.

Direct relationship with the professor or with one of his collaborators in the hospital ward, in the operating room, in the diagnostic units.

Detailed Course Content

Pediatrics
Physical examination of the pediatric patient

Writing a pediatric medical record

Reasoned analysis of laboratory tests

Communication of the diagnosis and how to talk to the family

Preparation of the discharge report

Active participation in all departmental activities: meetings with the medical staff, meetings with the nurses
Otorhinolaryngology
Practical training activities in ENT ambulatory, day hospital and operating room.
Internship Eye Diseases
eye examination

determination of natural and best corrected visual acuity, (far and near)

Amsler test

orthoptic visit

biomicroscopy of the anterior segment (slit lamp)

gonioscopy

ocular tonometry

fundus oculi examination: biomicroscopy and additional lenses, indirect binocular ophthalmoscopy with indentation

Ocular and orbital ultrasound

retinal fluorangiography

corneal topography

laser treatments

trabeculectomy

cataract surgery (phacoemulsification with IOL implant)

retinal detachment ab externo

vitrectomy

keratoplasty

Approach of the student to the diagnosis of the main neoplastic and inflammatory surgical pathologies of the digestive system. Attendance, with the teacher, of the operating room to follow the surgical procedures. Evaluation of the post-operative course of the patient by frequency of the ward.
