The teaching is designed to guide and improve the student's approach to the patient with various non-specific diseases at the level of the oral cavity or craniofacial district and that needs a therapy addressed to the symptom, in addition to a diagnosis and therapy aimed at responsible pathology. Specific objectives are: 1) To achieve and obtain the optimal skills in the odontostomatological, medical and surgical management of patients suffering from odontostomatological diseases. 2) Reaching and obtaining the best skills in the diagnosis, prevention and medical and surgical treatment of the mucous and bone diseases of the gold-maxillofacial district.
Specifically, the teaching is designed to provide the master's degree in Medicine and Surgery with the basic notions of epidemiology, diagnosis, prevention and therapy of dental caries, pulpopathies, apical periodontitis, abscesses and perimascellar and perimandibular phlegmons. The student must acquire the ability to diagnose the most common pain diseases of odontogenic origin and learn the basics of the medical treatment of the same, with the dosage of the most common drugs. The student must also be able to know the notions useful to perform a dental implant and to direct the patient to the next dental treatment and acquire the general notions that lead to the diagnosis of a malocclusion, prescribing the most appropriate radiological examinations.
The acquired skills will lead the student to develop a critical capacity on the topics dealt with using the competences in an active way for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes in the management of the patient suffering from odontostomatological diseases.
Aim of the Course is to provide all the essential informations the students need about this branch of Medicine, whatever the future specialization. The Course is set up to provide data for effectively diagnose and manage a comprehensive range of ophthalmic disorders, in some cases useful in the diagnosis of systemic diseases. A concise format makes it easy to quickly learn and understand the "must-know" aspects of each condition from a clinical and therapeutical point of view, especially focusing on the most important diseases, owing to their epidemiology and clinics.
Lectures accompanied by slides and movies and supplemented by discussion of the topics treated in order to train students in a critical capacity on the topics and to acquire a knowledge suitable for odontostomatological management in patients affected by specific pathologies of the gold-maxillofacial district. Final exam with oral exam. Mandatory attendance at lessons to take the exam, as per the teaching regulations of the degree course
