Learning Objectives

knowledge and understandig: students should acquire adequate theoretical and practical knowledge in order to design training programs as well as the full use of foreign languages learned in different contexts. The course aims to achieve an adequate level of language proficiency, both written and oral as well as a deep comprehension of the cultural and historical feature of Arabic Language.

applying knowledge and understanding: students will be able to analyze Arabic texts and acquire the ability to communicate in different contexts, thanks also to the knowledge of new teaching techniques. The assessment will be based on the active participation of students in all activities.

making judgement: the students be able to recognize the expressive and formal code of Arabic texts, by formulating punctual and pertinent judgments, in order to examine critically the different cultural and sociological aspects of the applications of the Arabic language, in a rigorous theoretical horizon.

communication skills: the students will be able to interact with Arabic speakers of different linguistic levels in structured contexts or in emergency situation, by acting as cultural and linguistic mediators. Group works and simulations will be employed in order to stimulate the students to apply correct and effective behaviors to the situations in which they will operate.

learning skills: the students will be able to use adjourned learning techniques (peer tutoring, lateral thinking, problem solving) aiming to increase their levels of knowledge and competence within the study of the Arabic language. They will be able also to apply their abilities of critical interpretation for the creation of cultural and interdisciplinary projects, by means of the more advanced technological tools.


Course Structure

The lessons will take place mainly according to a frontal and laboratory teaching method.

There are also seminars, language exercises and peer tutoring activities.



Detailed Course Content

Through reading, analysis and translation of literary texts, students will explore the morphology and syntax of the Arabic language.
