The course introduces the general mechanisms underlying the pathologies through the analysis of the various etiologic factors and pathogenesis of diseases, with particular regard to cellular and molecular mechanisms. At the end of the course, the student should be able to understand the cellular and molecular basis of the pathology including oncology. Frontal teaching will be supplemented by some seminars. For the student's education, information material will be distributed (relevant scientific articles) so that students can get used to the critical analysis of scientific articles.
At the end of the course the student will know the organization of the immune system, the main cells that compose it and the mediators through which the immune defences implement their action against etiologic agents. It will also know the pathology on an immune basis so as to be able to correctly perform and interpret laboratory tests for the study of the immune system and of the related pathological phenomena.
