To acquire knowledge of neurology useful to set up a project of rehabilitation to patients with cognitive and neuropsychiatric disease
Lessons are divided in two different parts: the first generic and basic will provide the student issues of neuroanatomy, neurophysiology and how to perform clinical exam mandatory for the successive realization of individualized rehabilitative plan. The second part, structured as clinical case presentation, will give the student knowledge of main neurological diseases and more in details the rehabilitative aspects of each specific disease: stroke, dementia, Parkinson, polineuropathy, multiple sclerosis, miopathies, etc. Furthermore spasticity, ataxia, hypostenia, disability evaluation instruments and international classification of functioning will be dealt with
The course aims at providing students with the knowledge of the methodology of observation, evaluation and rehabilitation treatment of elderly patients, with special attention to the most frequent pathologies and the presence of comorbidities. At the end of the course the students will have to know what goals it is possible reach by rehabilitation in elderly patients and know the tools to reach them, they will have to be able to plan and perform preventive and rehabilitative interventions.
