SPANISH LITERATURE 1

The course has the purpose of: 1) to promote and/or to improve the study of the Spanish literature furnishing critical tools of close examination and analysis; 2) to activate in students an historical and literary awareness related to the literary genres, to the authors and the most meaningful texts of the period of the gold centuries; 3) to develop the ability of critical reading of literary texts in Spanish language. Besides being fundamental element for a direct knowledge of the different authors and literary phenomena, the texts will also constitute an essential aid for the improvement of the linguistic competences.

The course is divided in two sections: A) general section, which concerns the study of the main features of literary periods and movements and selected (major) authors. B) In-depth analysis of Don Quijote.
