The educational objective of the course is to provide students with the necessary theoretical and critical skills that any professional in the linguistic-literary field must have to properly deal with the analysis of some specific aspects of the Spanish language, as well as to reach the level C1+.

Module A:
To: reflect on the concept of a national language, observe the evolution of the project for a monolingual nation of the nineteenth century to today’s multilingualism as recognized by the Constitution; analyze the linguistic unity planning in Spain and in Latin America and the panispana policy of the Real Academia de la Lengua Española and sisters academies in Latin America since the nineteenth century to today and their results.
a) There will be an investigation into the disappearance of caló, the language of the Gypsies, as a direct result of linguistic unification.
b) There will be a discussion on the Spanish of the twenty-first century and its deterioration experienced at the phonological, lexical, morphological and syntactic level with a focus on the penetration of Anglicisms.
Module B:
We will analyze, from an interdiscoursive and intersemiotic perspective, developments and/or involutions of stylistic registers of Spanish in different genres from the “modern” to the “post-modern” era. We will also analyzes the relationships between verbal and non-verbal artistic languages. The corpus examined (narrative works, essays, journalistic texts, poetry) ranges from the end of the 19th century to the beginning of the 21th century.
