Learning Objectives

Language and cognition
The aim is to develop the ability to reflect on the processes involved in language understanding.
Langage et Cognition
To acquire a critical reflexion on the discreteness paradigm prevailing in last century’s linguistics.

Language and cognition
The course will analyse the domain of cognitive pragmatics, with special regard to Relevance Theory and its relation with the notion of mindreading (or folk theory of mind).
Langage et Cognition
What is a phoneme; speaker vs listener; what is cognitive phonology; from discreteness to the ‘phonic face’.

Language and cognition
An ebook (at most 300 pages) on the topics will be availale at Studium.unict.it.
