BYZANTINE PHILOLOGY

The course aims to present a sketch of the Byzantine philology. It also shows that the Byzantine literature depends heavily on the reading and interpretation of the texts of the past. It provides some useful knowledge to investigate the events of transmission of the classics and the way in which they have come to us through the mediation of Byzantium.

Students who do not attend lessons may agree on a program with alternative texts for a number of pages equal to that provided for the course. They must agree timely on their choices with the professor.
