Learning Objectives

The student will develop reading, written and oral comprehension and production skills related to B2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), with particular reference to the linguistic specificity expected from the scope of the degree course.

  1. Knowledge and understanding: The student will be able to understand the main ideas of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in their field of specialization.
  2. Applying knowledge and understanding: The student will be able to produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects
  3. Making judgments: The student will be able to explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options.
  4. Communication skills: The student will be able to interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible without strain for either party.
  5. Learning skills: The student will be able to learn with a certain degree of autonomy the main translation theories for the development of a translation practice awareness, with the aid of comparative approaches.

1. Grammatical structures of the B2 level

2. Reading comprehension of texts of medium to high complexity

3. Written and oral translation of texts of medium to high complexity

4. Oral and written summaries of texts of medium to high complexity

5. Informative, opinion, and scientific writing of texts of medium to high complexity

6. Informative, opinion, and scientific oral expression on texts of medium to high complexity

7. Analysis of the structure and reading comprehension of a scientific publication with rewriting excersises.
