Complements of Electromagnetic Field and Propagation

Electromagnetic potentials for guided propagation, TM, TE, TEM modes. Normalization and possible definition for equivalents voltage and current.
Circular waveguide, losses in waveguides.
Resonant cavities.
Microstrip line, Dielectric slab, Optic fiber.


Microwave passive components and circuits

Reciprocity theorem.
Microwave circuits, Z matrix, ABCD matrix, S matrix. S matrix property: reciprocal and lossless devices, connection between S and Z matrices, displacement of reference planes.
Flow charts: reduction rules.
1-port device: matched load, short circuit.
2-port device: attenuators and phase shifter, electronic phase shifter.
3-port device: general properties, circulator, T and Y junctions, power divider.
4-port device: general properties, directional coupler, magic T.


Antennas and Antenna Array

Equivalence theorem, Image theorem.
Microstrip antenna*.
Aperture antenna: field radiated by apertures, field radiated by rectangular waveguide, directivity, sectorial horn antenna, horn antenna.
Parabolic antenna.
Antennas alignment, broad-side and end-fire alignments, maximum directivity and beam amplitude. Uda-Yagi antenna.
Planar Arrays. Principles of MIMO systems*.


Non-reciprocal and anisotropic media

Magnetized plasma, propagation of plane waves in a magnetized plasma*. Faraday rotation.
