The aim of this course is to provide students with information on geological, petrological and geochemical processes related to the formation of different ore deposits, including hydrocarbon deposits
1) HYDROCARBON DEPOSITS- a) Organic chemistry essentials; b) Origin of hydrocarbon deposits: the biogenic viewpoints c) Mantle origin of hydrocarbons: the Russian-Ukrainian hypothesis; d) Hydrocarbons formation in the abyssal serpentinite systems via Fischer-Tropsch-type hydrothermal syntesis; e) Example cases of hydrocarbon provinces the World over (Alberta, GOM, Brasi offshore, Middle-east countries and Mediterranean area (e.g.: The Tethys oil), Articc ocean and Eastern Siberia; f) Hydrocarbons in space objects and saturn’s moons Titano and encelado 2) Diamond deposits- a) hypothesees on the diamond origin; b) the “diatremic clan”: kimberlites and lamproites; c) The Argyle diamond deposit (NW Australia). 3) PGE deposits- a) PGE and their geochemical contexts b) the layered igneous intrusion of Bulshwed with emphasis on therein PGE deposits. 4) GOLD deposits. 5) URANIUM deposits. 6) SULFUR, A PRIME CALCOGEN ELEMENT. 7) BYOND THE EVAPORITE MODEL: MARINE SALT DEPOSITS IN ABYSSAL SERPENTINITE SYSTEMS. 8) NIOBIUM DEPOSITS. 9) BANDED IRON FORMATIONS AS PRIMARY IRON DEPOSITS.10) MINERAL GEMS DEPOSTS (EXCEPT DIAMOND)- 11) BORON DEPOSITS- 12) SUPERGENIC COPPER DEPOSITS.
