Learning Objectives

The aim of the course is to introduce students to the fundamentals of the European Union Law



Detailed Course Content

The course provides an introduction to the EU law and will be centered on the analysis of the European integration process and the institutional and normative EU aspects, focusing on EU citizens’ rights.

1. The development of the European integration

2. EU institutions

3. Instruments and the hierarchy of norms

4. Law enforcement

5. Citizenship of the European Union.



Textbook Information

The main textbooks used for the course is: G. STROZZI, R. MASTROIANNI, Diritto dell’Unione europea. Parte istituzionale, VII ed., Giappichelli, Torino 2016, pp. 1-323; 335-395; 412-448, except pages from 165 to 202 only for students attending the course lessons.

The relevant primary materials (treaties, resolutions, decisions of international courts etc) are freely available on line. Useful websites and suggested additional readings will be indicated for each topic in the course Blackboard page Studium.
