Learning Objectives

This course is an introduction to 19th and 20th century Japanese civilization, culture and literature. We will study various authors, works from different genres and main literary movements that marked those centuries. The course will focus also on relations between translation works and the evolution of Japanese literature that took place in the second half of the XIX century.
