HISTORY OF ART

The course provides general knowledge about Modern Art from Naturalism and Classicism to Romanticism; with detailed study of the Sicilian Baroque, of the main Modern Artists and Artworks. Also, the course teaches the basic methods to make iconographical analysis and Critique of Artworks. Detailed study: "The Antique in the History of the taste"

- Manuale: Nifosì, G., Arte in primo piano: Dal Naturalismo seicentesco all'Impressionismo, Editori Laterza, Bari 2011, vol. 4: capp. 18, 19, 20, 21, 22.

In alternativa: un manuale di Storia dell’Arte, a scelta (da concordare comunque con il docente); adottato dalle scuole secondarie di secondo grado, dove trattare: Naturalismo e Classicismo, Barocco, Neoclassicismo, Romanticismo.
