Learning Objectives

Plant Morphology
To know the structure and organization of plant tissues and organs. Identify the close relationship between structure and function and highlight the adaptations to environmental characteristics.
PLANT PHYSIOLOGY
To know the main functions of Cormophytes; identify the close relationship between structure and function and highlight the adaptations to environmental characteristics.

Plant Morphology
PLANT MORPHOLOGY - CYTOLOGY - The plant cell: cell wall, plastids, vacuoles and plasmodesmata. HISTOLOGY - Structure and function of tissues: primary and secondary meristems, protection tissues, parenchyma tissues, conductive tissues (xylem, phloem), mechanical tissues (collenchyma and sclerenchyma) and secretory tissues. ORGANOGRAPHY - Seed germination. Stem: growth, morphological and anatomical structure. Root: root system, growth, morphological and anatomical structure. Leaf: differentiation, morphological and anatomy structure.
PLANT PHYSIOLOGY
Membrane physiology. Root absorption of water and mineral nutrient. Water conduction transport from root to leaf. Transpiration and guttation. Oxidative respiration: Glycolysis, Krebs cycle. PHOTOSYNTHESIS - Light-dependent reactions: the photosynthetic pigments, the photosystems, energy conversion to the stable chemical forms. Light-independent reactions: Calvin cycle. Influence of the environment on photosynthesis. Photorespiration. C4 and CAM photosynthesis. Nitrogen assimilation and biological nitrogen fixation. Translocation of photoassimilates. HORMONES. Tropisms movements: phototropism and gravitropism. PHYSIOLOGY OF FLOWERING.
