Aim of the course i sto provide knowledge on the fundamental properties of semiconducting and superconducting materials



Detailed Course Content

Energy Bands and Electronic Levels in solids – Metals, Insulators and Semiconductors - Electron and holes in thermodynamic equilibrium - Transport Properties in semiconductors – Generation, Recombination and Diffusion Properties of electron hole couples – Optical Properties of semiconductors – Semiconductor Heterostructures and Nanostructures – Basic phenomena in superconductors: vanishing electrical resistance, Meissner effect, flux quantization, Josephson effect – SQUID - Phenomenological theories: Gorter Casmir, London, Ginzburg-Landau – Microscopic BCS theory – SQUID – High-temperature superconductors.
