Detailed Course Content

Earth pressure theories. Active and passive earth pressure; Rankine Theory; Coulomb Theory; Retaining walls, Earth retaining walls; cantilever and anchored diaphragm walls; design according to European and Italian codes; Methods of Analysis of stability of slopes; slope of finite height; infinite slope; static and seismic analysis; plane and rotational mechanism of failure; methods of slices; Fellenius, Bishop, Janbu, Bell; progressive failure; displacement analysis; three-dimensional slope analysis; types of landlides; causes and remedial works; stabilizing work: trence drainage; wells; tubular drains; piles to stabilize slopes.
