Learning Objectives

At the end of the course the student will

1) gain knowledge on the main topic of Russian grammatical and morphosyntactic structures;

2) gain knowledge in Russian language about themes of civilization, contemporary culture; develop communication skills: listening, reading, speaking, writing;

3) gain knowledge of some semantic properties and the relevant translation strategies; gain comprehension and communication skills in different texts and media in the original language;

4) will gain knowledge of words and expressions of communication in both formal and informal language in everyday life; will develop the communication skills, enrich the vocabulary and accuracy in selecting appropriate expressions in specific context; will develop communication skills and become independent in conversations and speeches, applying the linguistic skills gained during the course.


Course Structure

Classroom lectures. Guided practice activities or equivalent activities, guided individual learning.



Detailed Course Content

  1. Linguistic means and figure of speech in different communicative intentions in everyday life language;

1.a. Expression of emotions and feelings in Russian language;

1.b. Translation techniques of various semantic units;

2. Russian culture;

3. Vocabulary and grammar improvement;

3.1. Grammatical arguments of units: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 (см. Сводные таблицы в начале каждого урока) “ЖИЛИ-БЫЛИ...”, 12 уроков русского языка.

Коррекция и закрепление грамматических знаний:

- русская предложно-падежная система;

- аспектуальность глаголов;

- функционирование глаголов движения без и с приставками.

3.3. Topics:

1. “ЖИЛИ-БЫЛИ...” 12 Уроков русского языка. Texts, conversation and vocabulary (see “Слова и словосочетания, которые помогут...”) from units 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7: “Расскажите о себе”, “Семья”, “Дом. Квартира”, “Мой день”, “Город”, “В магазине”, “Транспорт”.

2. “ЖИВЕМ И УЧИМСЯ В РОССИИ” Рабочая тетрадь. Домашние и классные упражнения. Стихотворения наизусть: “Кто идет”, отрывок из поэмы А. С. Пушкина “Медный всадник”.

3. “Закон природы”. “Медный всадник”: смотрение, перевод, изложение наизусть в форме диалогов.

4. Team work:presentation of the topic “Сант-Петербург” - город на Неве” in PowerPoint.
