Learning Objectives

To acknowledge the main philosophical issues related to the aesthetic experience; to develop a critical approach to the philosophical discussion on art, beauty and perception from antiquity to modern days.


Course Structure

The course will be articulated through lectures with the support of texts and images.



Detailed Course Content

The principles of the Western aesthetics. In particular, after analysing the theoretical status of aesthetics, the problem of genius will be discussed with reference to literature and visual arts, from Plato to contemporary aesthetics.
