HISTORY OF PHILOSOPHY

To acquire a critical understanding of the historical development of philosophy, through the study of the History of Early Modern and Modern Philosophy up to the 20^th Century, as well as through the knowledge and the reading of the works of the prominent philosophers.

Lectures, readings and commentaries of texts from major philosophers’ works.

A – From Descartes to Rousseau (3 CFU): Descartes – Rationalism – Pascal – Spinoza – Leibniz – Locke – Berkeley – Hume – Vico – The Enlightenment – Rousseau

B – From Kant to Marx (3 CFU): Kant – Fichte – Schelling – Hegel – Feuerbach – Marx

C – From Schopenhauer to Gadamer (3 CFU): Schopenhauer – Kierkegaard – Nietzsche – Bergson – Pragmatism – Dewey – Croce – Gentile – Husserl – Heidegger – Jaspers – Sartre – Marxism and the Frankfurt School – Gadamer

N.B .: For the degree course in Letters (6 CFU) the examination program includes only modules A and B.
