History of Ancient Philosophy

Understanding the basic elements of the history of philosophy and science in Antiquity and developing specific critical and methodological skills.

The course will be articulated through lectures and the commentary of classical texts.

The principles of ancient philosophy. In particular, the course will focus on the issues of the soul, ontology and “hypermetaphysics”, from Plato to Neoplatonism.

The course will be structured as follows:

Module A Ancient philosophy from Thales to Neoplatonism (4 CFU).

Module B Critical texts on ancient philosophy (3 CFU).

Module C Classical texts (2 CFU).
