Learning Objectives

To acquire a general knowledge of the Mediterranean world in the medieval and modern age with a particular attention to the role played by Sicily in the XVIth century.

Detailed Course Content

Part A (4 ECTS).

The Mediterranean in medieval and modern age. The history of a sea that was the theater of clashes and encounters among different people, cultures, languages and religions

 

Part B (2 ECTS).

Religious, political and cultural aspects in modern Sicily
