Learning Objectives

The aim of the course is to provide a set of skills needed to the use of a computer, network resources and some applications to write and edit texts, create spreadsheets, create a presentation, and create technical drawings.
At the end of the course the student will be able to:
• Use the main functions offered by a computer and identify its components.
• Create, format, save and print a document.
• Create and manage workbooks and spreadsheets.
• Create and manage a presentation.
• Use AutoCAD.


Course Structure

Frontal lectures: 7 hours
Lab exercises: 28 hours
Should teaching be carried out in mixed mode or remotely, it may be necessary to introduce changes with respect to previous statements, in line with the programme planned and outlined in the syllabus.

Detailed Course Content

Fundamentals of Computer Science: information representation, numbering systems, computer architecture, hints on operating systems.
AutoCAD: toolbars, menu bar, command line, status bar. Layers, choice of colors, line types. Open and save a drawing. Lines and polylines. Polygon, circle, and arc. Object snap, ortho. Commands offset, cut, copy, move, rotate, cima and fillet. Display (zoom, pan, redraw and regenerate). Print. Graphic formats.
Word: opening and closing the program, file management (new, open, close, save, save as), find and replace, types of page view, print preview, customize the toolbar, undo, copy, paste and paste special, cut, insert (image, formula, tables, footnotes, page numbers, symbol), text selection, text formatting (bold, italic, underlined, capital letters, font, font size, superscript and subscript, line spacing, alignment and justification, hyphenation, copy format, tabs, bullets). Models. Styles. Headers and footers. Check spelling and grammar. Document settings. Print. Tables. Import objects. Graphic formats.
Excel: opening and closing the program, file management (new, open, close, save, save as), menu view, page break preview, customize the toolbar, data entry, data types, selection (cells, rows, columns , non-contiguous areas), change size, align text in a cell, copy, move, delete, find and replace, sort data, references (absolute, relative and mixed), autofill, lock non-input cells, formulas, functions, charts, document layout, print setting.
PowerPoint: create a new presentation from a template, modify the presentation theme, add slides to the presentation, add and edit text, images, clipart and shapes to slides. Add and modify tables and charts, insert and edit animations and slide transitions. Save the presentation.
