Learning Objectives

The aim of the course is to explain and provide specific knowledge on the motivations, contents, tools and processes of corporate auditing. During the course, a precise focus will be observed on the value of accounting information with particular attention to the centrality of those derived from general accounting and their compliance with the needs of the construction of the financial statements. The subject of the statutory audit will also be addressed in relation to the risks that characterize it (audit risk). The course will also provide the student with an overview of the relationship between the review process, the architecture and the operating dynamics of corporate governance. The review process will also be treated on the basis of the evolutionary path of the financial statements and the current emerging difficulties linked to the new disclosure requirements.

Course Structure

The student, also through the use of business cases, will be guided in the application of the main audit procedures. The knowledge offered by the course will be aimed at the concrete experimentation of the revision process and its final technical finalization. In this sense, the student will acquire the main skills necessary for the start and full completion of the audit process, with specific reference to the identification of risk areas and in relation to the characteristics of the financial statements and the application of accounting principles and audit principles

Detailed Course Content

The reference regulatory framework for the statutory audit process; the international perspective and the peculiarities of corporate controls; the strategic value of internal control for auditing; the methodological approach to the review, identification and control of risk (risk approach); the extent of the auditing activity and the auditor's observation perspective (broad perspective and audit risk model); the review process; the audit evidence, the documentary organization of the review process and the review of operating cycles; the rooting of the statutory audit activity in operational contexts: the statutory audit of the accounts in smaller companies; the particular conditions of corporate life; the results of the review process and their communication.
