Learning Objectives

The main objective of the course is to provide a clear and structured view of plant diversity, and methods used in the recognition of taxa of different taxonomic ranks.


Course Structure

Botany: An Introduction, The Molecular Composition of Plant Cells, The Plant Cell and the Cell Cycle, Photosynthesis, Plant structure: root, stem and leaves, The Process of Evolution, Systematics: The Science of Biological Diversity, Prokaryotes, Protists: Algae and Heterotrophic Protists, Bryophytes, Seedless Vascular Plants (Pteridophytes), Gymnosperms, Introduction to the Angiosperms, Evolution of the Angiosperms, Fungi.

Should teaching be carried out in mixed mode or remotely, it may be necessary to introduce changes with respect to previous statements, in line with the programme planned and outlined in the syllabus.

Learning assessment may also be carried out on line, should the conditions require it.
