The first part of the course is related to the period of the rise of Islam, its spread, the divisions between Sunni and Shi’a, Sufi and brotherhoods, the Qur’an and the šari‘a as a sources of Islamic law, the various schools of religious thought.
The second part studies those dictates of the Koran that have an effect on the social life of the believer such as, for example, matrimonial law and rules of succession.
