Course Structure

The course is based on lectures. Seminars, also consisting of practical exercises, will also take place during the
course.

Should teaching be carried out in mixed mode or remotely, it may be necessary to introduce changes with respect to previous statements, in line with the programme planned and outlined in the syllabus.

Learning assessment may also be carried out on line, should the conditions require it.



Detailed Course Content

The course will be divided in four parts:
I – Introduction to the study of criminology. The relationship between current features of some criminal phenomena, choices of criminalisation and enactment of criminal legislation providing for criminal offences;
II – Development of criminological scientific thought;
III – Definition and descripition of crime. Analysis of criminological theories;
IV – Application of acquired general concepts to some specific types of criminality (e.g. white collar crime; sex offences). Queer criminology.
