Learning Objectives

To give knowledge about the femeale reproductive system, physiology of the pregnancy and phatologies. Benign and malign gynecological tumor, diagnosis and treatment.

Detailed Course Content

Female genital system anatomy, hypothalamic pituitary axis, ovary, menstrual cycle.

Physiological pregnancy: fetal appendages, placenta. Duration of pregnancy: abortion, preterm, term, post term pregnancy.
Antenatal diagnosis: first trimester screening, invasive techniques: amniocentesis, villocentesis.
Childbirth: mechanical, dynamic, plastic phenomena. Presentation ratios. Dystocic and twin birth. The vaginitis. Vaginosis. Sexually transmitted diseases. The operational birth.
Secondment, postpartum and puerperium: physiology and pathology (manual secondment, uterine atony, CID).
Contraception.
Spontaneous and recurrent miscarriage. Thrombophilia. Ectopic pregnancy. The vesicular mola.
Gestational hypertension, gestosis, eclampsia. Epatogestosi. Placental insufficiency. Flowmetry.
Hemorrhages of the third trimester: placenta previa and untimely detachment of normally inserted placenta.
Diabetes in pregnancy.
The amenorrhea.
Couple infertility. Laparoscopy. Diagnostic and operative hysteroscopy.
Chronic pelvic pain. Endometriosis.
ovarian polycystosis and metabolic syndrome.
Benign pathology of the uterus: uterine fibroids, endometrial polyps, endometrial hyperplasia. Hyperestrogenism in menopause. Malformations of the uterus.
Malignant pathology of the uterine neck. HPV infection, preneoplastic lesions of the uterine portio, the PAP TEST, HPV test. Carcinoma of the uterine cervix. Adenocarcinoma.
Neoplastic pathology of the body of the uterus: carcinoma of the endometrium, the uterine sarcoma.
Pathology of the appendages, the ovarian cysts. Malignant pathology of the ovary: ovarian cancer.
Vulva pathology: lichen sclerosus, squamous hyperplasia, VINs, carcinoma of the vulva.
Hormone therapy in fertile age and post menopause. Menopause, menopause metrorrhagia.
Pelvic statics and pelvic floor defects. Genital prolapse and urinary incontinence.
Miscarriage. Law 194/78: Voluntary Termination of Pregnancy.
