Lessons are organized in two different parts
The first, basic and generic including issues of neuroanatomy, neurophysiology and general medicine. With this group of lessons the student will learn the ability to collect historical data and to interpret data obtained according temporal evolution of the key symptom, topography and localization of key symptom, associated symptoms and the existing differences among younger and older people. In this part of lessons students may learn methodology to correctly hypothesize main diagnosis.
The second part, more systematic, organized with a series of clinical cases will be the basis to present and discuss the main neurological diseases: Headache, Cerebrovascular diseases, Sleep Disorders, Epilepsia, Infectious Disease of Central and Nervous System, Metabolic diseases, Neuropathies, Demyelinating Diseases, Dementia, Parkinsonian syndromes, Miopathies, Central an peripheral nervous system diseases of genetic etiology, Motoneuron diseasesm Coreic syndromes and Dystonias.
Brain and spine injuries, brain and spine neoplasms will be presented and discussed by neurosurgeons with one further module of dedicated lessons
The exam is organized simulating a true clinical case. The student is asked to recognize the key symptom, the associated symptoms, if any and hypothesize the correct diagnosis. The student is further asked to discuss differential diagnoses and how he/she organizes the diagnostic work up
Aims of this module:
1) to give an accurate knolwdge of diseases of Peripheral and Central Nervous System;
2) to show the different imaging modalities in the study of Peripheral and Central Nerous System;
Frontal lesson with slides and video
Should teaching be carried out in mixed mode or remotely, it may be necessary to introduce changes with respect to previous statements, in line with the programme planned and outlined in the syllabus.
Lessons (generally for 2 hours) as scheduled in the calendar – available in the following link:

On-line lessons could be also performed,
Clinical cases
anamnestic collection
neurologic examination
diagnostic work-up
how to build diagnostic hypothesis
interpretation of neurologic symptoms and signs to performed diagnostic hipotheses
main central neurologic disease
main peripheral neurologic diseases
neurology and internal medicine
The course promotes the knowledge of most important clinical features of Central and Peripheral Nervous Syste, in order to perform neuroradiological examinations in a pertinent mode to disease's features.
Main clinical features, with relative important radiological features, are listed for ischemic, haemorrhagic, infectious and neoplastic diseases.
Main congenital malformations are discussed, with particular regard to the study techniques, in order to reach a correct identification.
