The student must be able to distinguish the characteristics of oral health and pathologies and the risk conditions of adult and pediatric patients in the dental field. The aim is also to make the student acquire the ability to possess knowledge on dental prevention techniques and systems and to acquire mastery in their application. The student must acquire the theoretical knowledge, common practical skills of dentistry.
Reach and obtain the optimal skills in the periodontal management of the patient in odontostomatology. Achieve and obtain optimal skills in the anatomy, diagnosis, and periodontal therapy of hard and soft tissues.
The teaching is set up to guide and improve the student's approach to the patient with various problems, ranging from the correct analysis of periodontal anatomy in physiology and pathophysiology and specific in the diagnosis in the patient affected by periodontal and peri-implant diseases of a non -surgical and surgical of the patient who presents with a specific periodontal pathology in the oral cavity or the craniofacial area and who needs a therapy aimed at the symptom, as well as a diagnosis and therapy aimed at the responsible pathology. In particular, the student must be able to obtain a correct degree of definition of the different forms of periodontal disease and perform a careful analysis of the clinical scenario in which the problem occurs, up to the formulation of hypotheses for the resolution of the problem presented (therapeutic options) with specific modules on physical and instrumental semeiotics, clinical methodology and non-surgical and surgical therapy of the patient with periodontal disease.
The course is complemented by the free participation of students in local, national and international scientific events organized in the field of periodontology.
The skills acquired will lead the student to develop a critical capacity on the topics dealt with using the skills in an active way for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes in the periodontal management of the patient in odontostomatology.
