Functions and Organization of the Respiratory System. Diagnostic procedures and respiratory functional evaluation. Pathogenesis and clinical aspects of the main respiratory diseases.
The main objectives of the course will be aimed at understanding: the etiological factors responsible for the alterations of cell function; the cellular and molecular pathogenic mechanisms of pathological processes; the mechanisms underlying the responses of the body's defense and immune system disorders, in particular: hypersensitivity reactions, the immunodeficiencies and autoimmune disorders; control mechanisms of cell proliferation and apoptosis.
Acquisition of basic knowledge of microbiology; understanding of the pathogenetic mechanisms of germs; diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and prophylaxis of infections; evaluation of infections that can specifically affect women, especially during pregnancy; identifications of possible microbial agents underlying infertility in couples
