CONTEMPORARY ITALIAN LITERATURE

The course aims to provide the general outlines of the history of Italian literature of the twentieth century, through the study of the more representative authors and texts.

he course aims to provide a general frame of the 20th century Italian literature, focusing on the more representative authors and texts.

The study of the authors will be conducted through the analysis of texts that allow a direct comparison with the poetics of each, as well as through knowledge of the main critical contributions for the works under consideration.

Some lessons will focused on the relationships between literature and visual arts, with a particular attention to the 20th century poetry.

A) The Italian literature in the twentieth century (4 CFU) (prof. Palazzolo)

A textbook chosen from the following:

Particular attention should be paid to the following authors:

Pascoli, D'Annunzio, Pirandello, Svevo, Rebora, Campana, Ungaretti, Montale, Saba, Quasimodo, Pavese, Vittorini, Luzi, Sereni, Caproni, Zanzotto, Morante, Primo Levi, Gadda, Moravia, Calvino, Fenoglio, Sciascia, Pasolini. The student will choose at least one hundred pieces extracted from the works of the writers specified in A (the photocopies of these texts will be given by the teacher).

The student will choose a novel of the writers specified in A with relevant critical essay.

B) The poetry of the 20th century, Baroque art and Michelangelo: Ungaretti and Saba (2 CFU) (prof. Di Silvestro)
